Already an established performer in the adult arena, Teresa Doyle has very successfully crossed the bridge into children's music. Drawing extensively on the Irish/Scots tradition, these songs feature Teresa's warm and lovely voice along with a charming children's chorus and plenty of traditional pipes, whistles and percussion. With all of its local flavor and unique language, she blends traditional songs with some very "hip" musical arrangements, without ever sacrificing the integrity of the original music. Favorite songs include "The Shearing," "Ca' the Ewes," "Lots of Fish in Bonavist Harbour," "Johnny's Gone A-Sailing," and "The Sailor's Alphabet." Age focus: All ages.

This CD celebrates the joy of Jewish music, culture and community values while emphasizing respect for all. The opening song, "One World," could be a pop hit! You'll grin when you hear "Four Corners," a bouncy Nashville-style country song listing all the places Jews can be found. "Chances are if you're a Jew, they're from your city, too," Craig concludes with just the right twang. Other strong cuts include "Family Tree," a touching waltz about Taubman's ancestry and the reflective "Hello God." Jewish kids will love this recording, but there's plenty here that speaks to kids of any religion. Age focus: All ages.

"Singin' In The Bathtub"
John Lithgow

CD - $16.98
Cassette - $10.98

Read Fred's review in...

John Lithgow has just the right amount of the "zany factor" to successfully and comfortably crossover into children's music. This spirited collection of whimsical songs features a 30-piece swing band as they romp through some jazzy tunes with ingenious lysics. Highlights include the silly "From The Indies To The Andes In His Undies," The Danny Kaye inspired "The Inchworm," "A - You're Adorable," and the very swingin' "Everybody Eats Whey They Come To My House." Pete Seeger's influence can be heard as John plays banjo and sings the classic "I Had A Rooster." Though only a few of the songs were actually written for children, they all possess that child-like charm. Age focus: 7 and up.
