1. Feet
Sometimes people forget about their feet. They are so used to thinking
about their eyes, or their ears, or their hair.
My feet take me everywhere
They take me off to anywhere
I love my feet.
He loves his feet
Out into the street I go
Dancing to the beat, ya know
I love my feet.
He loves his feet
My feet
They got five little toes a piece
They bring me a joy that just doesn’t cease
School’s out
My feet need to run
Jump up
My feet are so fun.
They go twinkle, winkle, winkle
Under my covers when the day is done.
My feet like to swim and jump rope in the gym
You know I love my feet.
He loves his feet
They like to splash in the waves, ya know
My feet are so brave
Ya know, I love my feet
He loves his feet
My feet
They got five little toes a piece
They bring me a joy that just doesn’t cease
School’s out
My feet need to run
Jump up
My feet are so fun.
They go twinkle, twinkle, twinkle
Under my covers when the day is done.
2. My Green Kite
I love things that fly…birds, rocket ships, dragonflies, and airplanes
(though I don’t like flying in airplanes so much because you have to
wait in long lines and take your shoes off.) I really like to fly kites.
Sometimes I’ll tie a little toy guy onto the kite and watch him go up in
the air. Sometimes I pretend that I’m him.
I woke up early this morning
I wanted to fly my green kite
My mom gave me a bowl of oatmeal
To start the day off right.
A breeze was shaking the branches
Of our crab apple tree
The leaves were doing all kind of dances
The wind was getting ready for me.
I headed out to the backyard
With a big ball of string in my hand
Now the wind was blowing so hard
I thought my kite would never land
My green kite just flew
Into the wild blue yonder
My green kite just flew
Into the wild blue yonder
My green kite just flew
I wish that I could fly too.
I wondered what my green kite saw
As it sailed just beneath the clouds
The string made the skin on my hands raw
It hurt but I was so proud
It was a quarter to one now
An hour and ten minutes past lunch
I was having so much fun now
I’m glad I brought some chocolate raisins to munch.
And, My green kite just flew
Into the wild blue yonder
My green kite just flew
Into the wild blue yonder
My green kite just flew
I wish that I could fly too
I wish that I could fly too
3. Another Bite of Hay
This is a story about Boris the bull. He studied many years and finally
found out some strange and wonderful things about happiness.
Boris the bull
And Colleen the cow
Met at elementary school
They talked after class
And while eating some grass
They bumped into Morris the mule
Now Morris
He was a smart mule
The smartest mule in his school
In fact there was no class
That Morris couldn’t pass.
Boris said Morris
Now that I’ve got you here
There’s something that I don’t understand
Why bother waking up
Day after day
Just to walk these same twelve acres of land.
Now Morris deep in thought
He shook his head
And said Boris I’ll get back to you soon
Just then the evening set in and the sun
Gave way to the moon.
Boris the bull had questioned the meaning of life
Why are some cows happy
and others full of strife?
Must we go through each day
Simply looking for another bite of hay?
Soon Boris and Colleen
Had two kids
Two young calves named Eddie and Will.
And when those little cows were born
That couple with horns
Had such a magnificent thrill.
Boris called Morris on the telephone
And offered up this simple advice
He said you can’t always be happy
But yes, you can always be nice.
And Boris the bull had questioned the meaning of life
Why are some cows happy
and others full of strife
Must we go through each day
Simply looking for another bite of hay
Simply looking for another bite of hay?
4. Maybe Is A Bad Word
I’d rather hear the word yes - if it’s something I want.
Maybe is a bad word
It makes you have to guess
Maybe is a bad word
When the word you’re looking for is yes.
I asked my momma
Can I ride my bike?
She tells me something
That every kid don’t like
She says
Maybe, Yeah she says
Maybe
Maybe is a bad word
It makes you have to wait
Maybe is a bad, bad word
The answer comes too late.
I asked my daddy can we get a toy
He tells me something
That never fails to annoy
Maybe, he’s always saying
Maybe
Maybe is a bad word
It leaves you hanging in the air
Maybe is a bad, bad word
It makes you feel like no one cares
I asked my teacher
Is it time for recess?
She told me something that always makes me guess.
Maybe, I’m talking about Maybe.
5. My Father’s An Accountant
I never realized how much my parents did for me until I became one myself
My father’s an accountant and I used to think that he was dull
He sits all day long crunching numbers in his skull
Maybe he’d get up to sharpen his pencil
Or put a spoon of sugar in his tea
My father is a hero
But for a while I just couldn’t see.
One day I saw what my father really did
He spent his whole life taking care of his wife and his kid.
He doesn’t wear a cape like Superman
There are no mountains that he’s brave enough to climb
But if I ever really need him
He’ll be there every time.
My father’s an accountant and I used to think that he was boring
I’ll tell my friends about his job and I can see them all start snoring
Maybe one day they’ll see what I see
A man strong enough to be true
Dad I just want to tell you
That I can I see the hero in you.
My father’s an accountant and I used to think that he was dull.
6. A Dozen Roses
This is a very raucous lullaby. You can use it to calm down someone
who’s in a bad mood.
I’m gonna buy my baby
A dozen roses.
She’s been a good girl
And I want to let her know.
I’m gonna buy my baby, a dozen roses
Yes, I love it when she smiles
I’m gonna let her know.
I’m gonna buy my good girl
A box of chocolates.
Lord, she’s so sweet she makes the whole world shine
I’m gonna buy my baby a box of chocolates
I love it when she smiles
And I’m so glad she’s mine.
Well my baby likes to play
Down at the seashore
She loves to let the sands squeeze through her toes
Yeah my baby likes to play
Down at the seashore
I love it when she smiles, she makes the whole world glow.
My baby likes to ride on the back of my bicycle
She likes to feel the wind blow her hair around
Yeah my baby likes to ride on the back of my bicycle
Well I love it when she smiles, it’s like I leave the ground.
Well my baby likes to ride on the back of an elephant
She likes to see the world, from way up high
Now my baby she likes to ride on the back of an elephant
I love it when she smiles
Now watch her wave goodbye.
I’m gonna buy my baby
A dozen roses.
She’s been a good girl
I’m gonna let her know.
Yeah, I’m gonna buy my baby
A dozen roses.
I love it when she smiles
I wanna let her know.
I’m gonna buy my baby
A dozen roses.
7. Have You Ever Really Looked At An Egg?
Don’t get the wrong idea. I love eating eggs. This was just a thought I
had one morning.
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
It’s oval and white with slimy stuff inside the shell.
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
If you keep it outside in the sun all day it’ll smell.
You never can tell
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
And those big white chickens
What are they really thinking of
Probably those baby chicks they love
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
and thought about the way, it protects the chick
If you really start to think about eggs
It’s possible the thought of eating one will make you sick
But you’ve gotta come quick
Let’s stop thinking about eggs.
And those big white chickens
What are they really thinking of
Probably those baby chicks they love
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
It’s oval and white with slimy stuff inside a shell
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
If you keep it outside in the sun all day it’ll smell
You never can tell
Have you ever really looked at an egg?
8. I Made It For You
I’m lucky because my Grandma Rose and my Grandma Min were great cooks.
Mom’s a great cook, and so is my wife. I didn’t like fish so much or
stuffed cabbage when I was a kid…but I sure like it now.
I woke up this morning and the house smelled mighty fine
Many mothers can cook, but there’s no one that can cook like mine.
Chicken was roasting in a pot
There were onions frying in a pan
Yeah it smelled so good
No one can cook, like my mama can.
I looked into the oven and there were two loaves of bread on the rise
I turned back to the table and saw a plate of golden french fries
I said is today a special day?
Who did you cook all this food for?
She said I made it for you
My son whom I adore
Yeah I feel lucky
The most fortunate boy on earth
I’ve got a mama who loves me
Who can say how much that’s worth?
Chicken was roasting in a pot
There were onions frying in a pan
It smells so good
No one can cook like my mama can.
I feel lucky
The most fortunate boy on earth
I’ve got a mama who loves me
Who can say how much that’s worth?

10. Red Rubber Boots
I love it when it rains in the summer and it’s really hot outside… like
just before a tornado
I’m a happy fella
With my bright blue umbrella
I feel no kinda pressure or pain
I’m overjoyed to be walking
In my red rubber boots in the rain.
Let the storm clouds gather
To me it doesn’t matter
I say let it pour again and again.
I’m just overjoyed to be walking
In my red rubber boots in the rain.
Come on along
I’m looking for a friend to come with me
We can splash in the puddles and dam up the gutters
All morning long.
We can float paper boats
Down the rivers we made until lunchtime
We can eat peanut butter sandwiches and be back on the street again.
I’m a happy fella
With my bright blue umbrella
I feel no kinda pressure or pain
I’m overjoyed to be walking
In my red rubber boots in the rain.
I’m overjoyed to be walking
In my red rubber boots in the rain.
11. Nothin’ To Say
Do you know people who just like to talk and talk and don’t really say
anything? Sometimes if I get really tired and hungry I do that too
I got nothin to say
Except that my hamsters had babies
And a skunk will give you rabies
If it bites you in the foot
So be careful not to put
Your foot near the root of the tree
Where a skunk is likely to be
But I got nothin to say you see
Except that yesterday
When I went out to play
They were giving away
Modeling clay
For free.
And since I wanted to play
And since you didn’t have to pay
I took some away
For me
Wouldn’t you agree?
It could fill a kid with glee
It was ok
But, I got nothin' to say.
Hey! Have you seen the way dolphins play?
In the bay
They make these little squeals
Are they talking to the seals?
Are they looking for meals?
Do they eat eels?
And there’s a man who kneels
With his six year old daughter
At the edge of the water
Trying to get a look
Or maybe they’re baiting a hook
With a worm that shook
And moved his tail
Afraid of a whale
That probably did sail
From the Alaska coast
Looking for toast
That wasn’t stale.
Or even a snail
That you can get on sale
At a grocery store
But it would be a chore
Or worse yet to ignore
A whale coming in through the door
So please, I need to get away
As a matter of fact
I’ve got nothin' to say.
Well today has been a pretty regular day
A day where I kinda like to stay
Outta the fray
Not stray
Too far away
Maybe hit the hay
And stare out at the bay
With the dolphins at play
Now I’m repeating myself
Like some tiny little elf
That you’d keep on the shelf
With some degree of stealth
As though your wealth
Were tied up in this thing
That’s supposed to bring you luck
Get you unstuck
Like a truck
In the muck
It’s worth at least a buck
If you can afford to pay
I’ve got nothin' to say.
12. Watercolor Set
I love to make things. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a song or a
painting or a pot of chicken soup. Once my parents surprised me with a
watercolor set and an easel for my birthday. My Dad was pretending to be
mad when he said, “Peter, go down stairs and clean your room!”. I was
upset because it was my birthday and here my Dad was telling me to clean
my room. But when I went downstairs, there it was… The best birthday
present I ever got.
Orange is for the sun
Blue is for the sea
Green is for that paper kite
flying over me
White is for a daisy
Yellow’s for a daisy too
Brown is for the ground I sit on
And silver’s for the dew
But of all the birthday presents that I ever did get
There’s none I like better then my
Watercolor set.
Purple is for the plum
Hanging off the branch of our tree
Black is for the crow
That eyes it greedily
Gold is for the coins
Hidden in a pirates chest
Red is for the feathers
On a robins breast.
Of all the birthday presents that I ever did get
There’s none I like better then my
Watercolor set.
You can paint your own world
Create your dreams on paper
You can get lost in a million hues
Start spreading the news
And get your brushes wet!
There’s nothing I like better then my watercolor set.
You can paint your own world
Create your dreams on paper
You can get lost in a million hues
Start spreading the news
And get your brushes wet!
There’s nothing I like better then my
