2. Hey, Picasso - Jessica Harper
Words and Music by Jessica Harper

Vocals and produced by Jessica Harper
Guitar and bass: Gary Myrick

Hey, Picasso, paint the sky.
Put a white cloud in it.
Add a small red bird or two.
It only takes a minute.

Hey, Picasso, in the background
Paint the Eiffel Tower.
Add some flowers one by one.
It'll only take an hour.

Hey, Picasso, add some children
Singing freedom's song.
When you paint such sweetness,
It never takes too long.
It never takes too long.

The sun is out and the sky is blue
Mama can I go to the park with you
And she says, "just a minute"
She says, "just a minute"
Sometimes when my mama says, "just a minute"
She means more than just a minute
She means more than just a minute

And the clocks go tick, tick, tick, tick, tock
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tock

Sometimes I think about my baby brother
When he was just a minute old and he was so small
And my grandma, you know, she is more than just a minute
She is many, many, many, many minutes
And we're all just minutes

But then I kiss my mama on the cheek
And I feel like I'm more than just a minute
For that minute I'm more than just a minute

And the clocks go tick, tick, tick, tick, tock
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tock

Mama let's go, that was just a minute
That was not more than just a minute
Here we go now . . .

Segue, scherzo, secco, segno
Coda, capo, cadence, canto . . . what

Oh music is a lovely language but to speak it well
You need a good vocabulary if you're aiming to excel
So start off slow with largo, lento and adagio
Then pick the pace up with allegro and prestissimo

For soft the word is piano it's the proper thing to say
A little louder's mezzo and with forte you go all the way
You also can combine these terms to indicate they blend
Begin with mezzo and attach another to the end

When you accelerate the tempo that's accelerando
And don't say whoa to make it slow instead say ritardando
To turn the volume up just say crescendo if you please
Back down's diminuendo want some more words try these

Exposition, resolution these apply to the motif
Modulation, syncopation use them when you need relief

Ornaments are turns and trills and
Slides and slurs and other frills
Call one an appoggiatura
You'll be smart and that's for sure-a

There are many more words look them up when you have time
Like obbligato, ostinato, and staccato and legato
Segue, scherzo, secco, segno
Coda, capo, cadence, canto
And my friend fine

That's the end

Chorus:
I'm a tiny little gear in a great big clock
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tickety Tock Tock
Tick Tock Tick Tock
I'm a tiny little gear, a very tiny little gear
No one even knows I'm here in this great big clock!

My papa is a master spring.
My mama is a sprocket.
One of my aunts is a windup watch.
She lives inside a locket. (But)

Chorus

I used to think life would be grand, if I could be a second hand.
Or maybe be a spring just like my pop!
But I know, though I'm just a gear, it's important that I'm here.
Because without my services this clock would simply . . . STOP!

Listen to the sound going 'round and 'round
Listen to your heartbeat
Tick-a-tick-a-tock all around the block
Listen to your hearbeat

Tapping out a tune with a rhythm and rhyme
Makes you want to sing all of the time
Tick-a-tick-a-tock all around the block
Listen to your heartbeat

When you go to bed and you're tucked in tight
Let a lub-dub lullaby
Rock you all night

Listen to the sound going 'round and 'round
Listen to your heartbeat
Listen to the sound going 'round and 'round
Listen to your heartbeat
Heartbeat

Forever and ever
Forever and ever

Forever and ever, and ever and ever

There's a family that I know, just like yours and mine
Who share these words of love all the time
Reminding mom and dad, little sister and brother
Just how long they plan on loving one another

Forever and ever, no matter what!
Forever and ever, no matter what!
When times are good and even if they're not
There is one little promise that will not be forgot

Forever and ever, no matter what!
Forever and ever, no matter what!
Forever and ever, no matter what!
Forever and ever, and ever and ever

Stay awake and play some games

Five minutes more
Five minutes more
I promise that I'll get up then.
Five minutes more
Five minutes more
I swear I'll lift my head up then.

This bed's so warm -
It's really warm.
It's comfy and it's warm and soft.
This bed's too warm -
It's much too warm
For me to throw the covers off.

Outside it's cold -
I know it's cold;
There's ice there on the window pane.
It's really cold -
It's much too cold -
If I get up I'll freeze my brain.

I can't get up!
I can't get up!
I think somebody tied me down!
I can't get up!
I can't get up!
My body weighs a million pounds.

I know, I know.
You know I know.
But I still think it's awfully cruel.
I know, I know,
I know, I know,
I know I have to go to school.

Five minutes more
Five minutes more
I swear I'll lift my head up then.
Five minutes more
Five minutes more
I promise that I'll get up then.

There's a bowl of milk in the moonlight
There's a mouse on the mat at the door
When the morning dawns
And the tired world yawns
I'll be curled up by the window
In the warm, warm sun

Meow meow meow meow meow
Meow meow meow meow
Meow meow meow (etc.)
