Undying gratitude and boundless appreciation and respect to the artists who each put so much of themselves into this project. We are fans of every one of them. Most were friends to begin with and all of them are friends now. The hardest part of it for us was to keep from making this a 3 CD set. There are so many other great tunes and performers we hoped to include, but alas... fate, serendipity and schedules exert more influence on the project than we do, not to mention fiscal reality.

Respect and appreciation to friends at Windham Hill past and present: Steve Vining for supporting the ever-blossoming budget and for seeing it through; Christine Reed for the opportunity; Ned Hearn and Ron McCarol for their expertise; Niki Carras for doing the work of ten. Jim Kennedy, Janet Miner, Julie Chatard. Thanks.

Couldn't have done it without Tom Luekens, our vigilant recording engineer who's wife got pregnant immediately upon hearing about the project, largely recorded at Tiki Town Studio, (a tiki being a Polynesian fertility symbol) and who is now the dad of Steffenie and so finally understands the true meaning of "sleep fast."

Debt of luuuv to Scott Mathews of Tiki, who became swept up in his own fertility craze and just had a daughter as well.

To Billy Taylor, a national treasure, and to Lucy Scott and Amy Rosner from CBS.

Thanks for making us look good: Jim Anderson and Larry Swist who engineered for Billy and Dick's tracks, John Taylor and Howard Johnston, engineers for Eliot and Keola. To Tom Carr for the mastering ears.

All these helpful people: managers Bob Zachary, Al Evers, Kathy Econom, David Pringle, Barry Steinberg, Craig Miller, Kat Masters and Veronica, Verna Gillis, and Mary Pat Buerkle.

Thanks to Garrison Keillor, Jason Keillor and Kaye Gornick; Eric Carle, Motoko and Arnia Black and to David Grisman and family.

Appreciation for the time and enthusiasm of Bruce Kuhlman and George Santana, and to his brother for the inspiration and to Jas Orbrecht for the introduction.

To Karen Emerson for sharing Bobby's friendship with me and to Bobby's assistant, Kim Teevan.

To George Haddow at John Connolly & Co. and Thomastik Strings for their wonderful Dominant and Oktavgeige Strings.

To TISQ for putting up with it.

To all our friends who tired of hearing about it.

To us for getting through it still married. It's been a dreamÉ
