LINER NOTES

Kathy Reid-Naiman is an avid collector and teacher of children's songs, rhymes and games. This is her third recording, and like "Tickles and Tunes" and "More Tickles and Tunes," all the material has been kid-tested in her weekly music programs. These are the ones that work! These are the ones that the children want to sing over and over and over again.

REVIEWS

"I'll try to restrain myself, but it won't be easy. This is the best children's recording I've heard in ages. It takes children's music back to where it started - simple songs that little kids can sing with their parents. Kathy Reid-Naiman is no newcomer. She's been toiling away in southern Ontario for years, performing in schools, daycares and folk festivals. I feel like a fool because I didn't know about her recordings until now. "Say Hello to the Morning," her third, features a wonderful blend of fingerplays, rhymes and tickles (some of which are simply spoken), along with singing games and songs both traditional and original (her own songs are excellent ). She has a lovely voice and is backed by an able stable of musicians, including her husband and children. Another highlight is the golden touch of Ken Whiteley, producer of Raffi's early recordings, who plays more than 2 dozen instruments. This recording has a wealth of new material for preschool teachers and parents looking to get beyond 'Twinkle, Twinkle' and 'I Love You, You Love Me.'"
-John Hoffman, Today's Parent (Canada)

"If you're looking for the perfect gift to give your child's preschool or kindergarten teacher, pick up 'Say Hello To The Morning.' Get one for your own family, too. This is preschool music at its best, with plenty of opportunities for age-appropriate music play."
-Fred Koch, Chicago Parent Magazine's BEST OF 2000

"Traditional and original children's songs, fingerplays, "knee bounces," and spoken rhymes courtesy of teacher, singer, and musician Kathy Reid-Naiman. Her pure vocals are lovely and expressive, and the terrific instrumentals she and others perform are remarkably varied with dulcimer, piano, fiddle, harmonica, ukulele, accordion, washboard, and many more. Its nearly impossible to sit still and not tap feet, nod heads or want to get right up and dance to this exceptional collection. A sampling: Hap Palmers playful "What Are You Wearing?," Bill Wellington's comic "Theres a Dog in the School" (with barking), Malvina Reynolds gentle dreamsong, "Morningtown Ride," the exuberant American folk song, "Jubilee," and Sally Jaeger's and Reid-Naiman's charming "Baby Bear Waltz." And, no matter what your age, Reid-Naiman's irresistible, lilting title song is a great way to start the day."
-Lynne Heffley, Parents' Choice
