This project is truly a celebration of Ella Jenkins! Her contribution to the world of children's music is unparalleled, and since the late 1950s, children around the world have been singing, dancing and playing to her songs. Fred Koch (pronounced "Cook") created Red Rover Records in 1981 as a vehicle for his musical talents. The vision of Red Rover Records is to provide quality music materials for young children, an enrichment tool for teachers and a refreshing entertainment alternative for parents. Fred has produced two albums through Red Rover Records, "This Lil' Cow" and "Children's Record." His collaborative work with other major children's artists includes co-writing two songs for Greg & Steve's "Kids in Motion." Fred has also composed numerous scores for childrens theatre productions, compiled and edited autoharp methods books for teachers and in 1988 was honored with the Kohl International Teaching Award for his outstanding work in the classroom as a music specialist. The album, "Did You Feed My Cow?," is born of Fred's diversity as a teacher, composer, singer and musician. His music blends with the heart of Ella's classic songs to create a significant and important album for children of all ages. Adults, too, find themselves drawn by Fred's talent and discriminating musical taste. As a dad and teacher of future teachers Fred's work has provided me with a wellspring of resources. With his music playing on our family stereo, our living room is regularly transformed into a palace of dance and movement. When I work with Fred's music in my classroom, my college students find themselves journeying to the world of their lost childhoods. Education for them becomes an adventure of creative self-expression with limitless possibilities! It is assuring to know that the creative spirit of our children and their teachers can be nurtured in such a positive way. Fred called "Did You Feed My Cow?" a celebration of Ella Jenkins and her songs. It is indeed. But it also is a celebration of a most fruitful and wonderful relationship - Ella Jenkins' classic songs and the musical artistry of Fred Koch.
